Food. And dreams.

So, I realized a while back that my only constant and unchanging dream for a while has been about food. More specifically about setting up my own quaint coffee shop, with mismatched chairs, old charm paintings over whitewashed walls, a bookshelf full of coffee table books on art, history and design. And fiction. Little wire mesh decoration and a purple pic on the cash counter, for good luck.

The more I thought about it, the more I realized that a part of my inspiration and more so that my initial coffee shop experiences have all revolved around the Mocha cafes. And hence, you will realize that a lot of the following will sound straight out of one of the many Mocha outlets.

Mismatched block colour coffee mugs in varying bright shades of blue, yellow and reds. Cookie jars full of happiness. And brownies. We all love brownies. Chocolate brownies, choco chip brownies, white chocolate and caramel brownies. Sigh. This list can go on forever. Anyway, getting back to the coffee shop idea, coffees, lattes, the espressos for the brave. Well I am going to have it all. And muffins and ice creams and hot chocolate and soda pop. (Soda pop is a new addition to the coffee shop dream and I have enough thoughts to make another post out of it, so another day for the soda pop) Not to mention tea. I know quite a few people, parents included; who would prefer a cup of ginger tea over coffee. So, yes; a cafe of sorts. With portions of sandwiches and rolls and peppery garlicky potatoes. *yum*

I can actually see myself improving my baking skills to make sure that I can work with a bigger variety of options. I have not yet made cupcakes. Or red velvet cake. Or piped icing onto a cake. Or used fondant. Or tried my hand at cake decorating. I have however, perfected my version of the chocolate wine cake. 🙂

I just need to now learn the super difficult and super tough art of having enough patience to wait and decorate my cake instead of waiting for it to cool enough so that I can taste. *Try the art of patience when your house smells of cookie dough* Hehe 🙂

Well, I am working towards that dream, working towards that menu and working towards not only exploring further my love for food, but also sharing it with people.

And if all goes well, we will over the course of time, also add a restaurant to the food dream list!

I was asked, what do you want to be when you grow up? As a kid I answered that I wanted to be a good person. It was only recently that I realized that all I want to do, is eat good food. And make good food, since; for me, and I quote George Bernard Shaw - "There is no love sincerer, than the love of food."

I personally think food and life goes hand in hand, eat good food and you are all set for the day. I remember you telling me about owning a cafe which is quite brilliant.

Thanks Abhilash. I have my fingers crossed with this one! 🙂

  • Hey Anindita! 🙂
I thought it was really interesting how you described the kind of coffee shop you would like to own some day. I didn’t know about your obsession until I read some of your posts! Although, looking back now, whenever Dhoti and I would roam about in a mall, we’d always find you in a coffee shop 😛
    Lol. Anyway, nice read… 😀

  • oie .. I don’t see no board games. Why you no like board games !! and books we all love books, a good cafe should have awesome books 🙂 Maybe its just me and maybe its bad for business but I think a cafe should be an inviting place. A place you would come in with a ton of friends and would not want to leave.

      Hey Joel,

Board games and books and paintings are a given. And also comfy sink in couches, cozy reading corners, big board game tailored tables and free wi-fi! \m/

      And theme based music! 🙂
