Our All Time Favorite Desserts

I was born in a Bengali family, which pretty much meant that I was born with a sweet tooth. Sandesh, Rasugulla, Payesh (Read: Payasam) are household standards. The culture is such that you are encouraged to have and share sweets. (Please note that I don’t share food. It is not personal. :D)

Now, being born with such interesting genes, will you blame me for always craving a bit of sweet at the end of the meal? (Well, my waistlines does! =P) However, over the years, I have explored desserts in various forms and in various places. Here is my list of top 5 desserts! =D

5. Blueberry Cheesecake

This is one absolute piece of beauty. No meal can ever go wrong, if it ends with blueberry cheesecake.

Recommendations: Theobroma in Bandra & Colaba have gorgeous Blueberry cheesecakes. A definite must try!

4. Tiramisu

Alcohol. Coffee. Instant Love! How can this combination EVER go wrong?

Recommendations: Try the Tiramisu at Out of the Blue in Bandra or again at Theobroma, Bandra & Colaba.

3. Strawberry Cheesecake

Strawberries and cheesecake. Deadly killer combination.

Recommendations: I have tried this in a lot of places, but I keep going back to 5 Spice in Bandra for their version of this gorgeous dessert and simply because this is one ginormous portion, that I actually share! (Not willingly, mind you! :D)

2. Bengali Sweets

Chom Chom, Rasugulla, Chanar Payesh, Sandesh, Malai Sandwich & Mishti Doi! Should I say more?

Recommendations: Come home! 😀 But yeah, Sweet Bengal outlets do have some good sweets, especially their Mishti Doi and Malai Sandwich! Definitely worth a try. 🙂

And the winner is: The humble dessert, yet the truly elegant thing melts and disappears in your mouth.. *drum roll*

1. Caramel Custard

For the consistency, for being light on your stomach & light on your pocket and the fact that you can never be happy with just one, caramel custard is my #1, numero uno dessert!

Recommendations: After trying caramel custard in a gazillion places, I keep going back to Lucky at Bandra, for their version of this beautiful dessert! An absolute must have.

Now that you guys are absolutely wondering why all the recommendations are for the suburbs, well, I don’t stay there for one. And two, the travel is so very worth it! 🙂 Promise! <3

Now, get those stretchable pants on, and let’s go have some beautiful, sinful dessert.

Note: I am not a very big  fan of chocolate. Hence, the exclusion of chocolates from my dessert list. However, if I had to have chocolate, then the winner would definitely be Chocolate Mousse!

Finger licking yum! =D

But just because I don’t eat as many chocolate desserts, doesn’t mean I don’t like chocolates. This chocolate quote always makes me smile! 🙂

Well, hope you guys have a dessert filled week ahead! Keep smiling! Peace.

I was asked, what do you want to be when you grow up? As a kid I answered that I wanted to be a good person. It was only recently that I realized that all I want to do, is eat good food. And make good food, since; for me, and I quote George Bernard Shaw - "There is no love sincerer, than the love of food."
